Included in my initial fee is a one hour "Breakdown Recovery" service. During this time I will attempt to repair your computer in situ. If however I am unable to do so the unit will be taken away for further investigation and repair.

If the unit is not repairable it will be returned with no further charge.

Generally speaking the fault can often be fixed within the hour, however if this is not possible I should be able to give you a good idea of the problem and the expected cost. My fees are aproximated in the table below, however please bear in mind that replacement parts will be extra.

COMMON COMPUTER FAULTS

COMPUTER SERVICE: Computers generate a lot of heat and thus have cooling fans to draw air across the components, however this also draws in dust. Dust build up on the components will reduce their capacity to dissipate heat, which will in time cause the computer to fail through overheating. Therefore an occasional cleaning of the computer fans, and components is recommended. Service includes: Dust extraction, De-frag of hard drive, Virus Scan. PROCESSOR / MOTHERBOARD FAILURE: Although quite uncommon Processors (CPU) & Motherboards can fail, and although a replacement can sometimes be found the cost of replacement may make the process uneconomical. In these cases a new PC is generally the best option. Your old hard drive (or contents of) can be easily transferred to your new PC so you do not have to worry about losing your files. VIRUS REMOVAL / SCANNING: If your PC is running slowly or performing erratic functions then it may be infected with a "virus" etc. Whereas viruses were previously just malicious, more often than not they have more sinister functions these days. Often recording your computer usage, passwords and account numbers etc. Sometimes turning your computer into a tool to attack other computers. Therefore it is vital that you keep your computer free of viruses. Don't be fooled into thinking that as you have anti virus software that your PC is clear, they are not infallible! Wikipedia: VIRUS

HARD DRIVE UPGRADES: If your computer is running out of disk space then the addition of a second hard drive is a relatively simple process. Wikipedia: HARD DRIVE

MEMORY UPGRADES: If your Computer is running slowly then often the addition of more memory can give it a new lease of life. Assuming there is facility to do so then the addition of extra memory is a fairly simple process. Wikipedia: RAM / MEMORY

DATA RETRIEVAL: If your Hard Drive has failed then sometimes the data contained within can be retrieved, but this really depends on the failure severity. If the data is retrievable then it can be copied onto your new hard drive or computer. Wikipedia: HARD DRIVE
